New Grant Opportunity for Nonprofits in the City of Alexandria
New Grant Opportunity for Nonprofits in the City of Alexandria
The City of Alexandria’s Office of Climate Action is offering assistance to local nonprofits applying for a new grant opportunity that provides funding to improve the energy efficiency of nonprofit buildings and facilities.
The U.S. Department of Energy, through its Renew America’s Nonprofits program, is investing approximately $45 million in energy-efficient projects in the nonprofit sector. The Office of Climate Action is a program partner and is able to support City nonprofits during the application process and provide assistance post-award, for any organizations selected to receive funds.
To qualify for Renew America’s Nonprofits, applicants must be active nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations that own real estate in Alexandria. Nonprofits that receive grants can use the funds for building investments that reduce emissions, save energy, and lower utility costs.
The due date for grant submission is Thursday, August 3, by 5 p.m.
Interested nonprofits can learn more at the Renew America’s Nonprofits webpage. For more information about the grant, and how the Office of Climate Action can assist local nonprofits interested in this opportunity, contact climateaction@alexandriava.gov.
The Office of Climate Action, established in the fall of 2022, leads progressive environmental change and action at the local level. Some of its focus areas include energy efficiency, high-performance buildings, renewable energy, climate change mitigation and reporting, electric mobility, business assistance, community engagement, and advocacy.
