City Invites Community Feedback on the Arlandria-Chirilagua Plan
A DCHS CONNECT NEWS HIGHLIGHT
June 25, 2021--The City of Alexandria is inviting community feedback on the Arlandria-Chirilagua Plan, which includes recommendations related to housing, land use, open space, transportation and more.
Residents can provide input online in English and Spanish through July 13. PowerPoints and short videos that summarize the plan’s objectives and recommendations are available in both languages.
The City began seeking input from residents in late 2019 in order to update plans governing the neighborhood in light of upcoming projects near the neighborhood, including the Amazon headquarters in Crystal City and the Metrorail station and Virginia Tech Innovation Campus in North Potomac Yard.
Through focused conversations with the Arlandria community and taking into account market pressures resulting from new development in the surrounding area, planning process objectives for the Arlandria-Chirilagua Plan were developed.
City staff, who have been collecting feedback on plan recommendations through various methods such as online questionnaires, pop-up events and virtual meetings, will present final draft recommendations to various committees and commissions for review and endorsement early this fall. The final draft will be presented to the Planning Commission and City Council and released for public comment, with hearings slated for late fall or early winter.
Learn more about the plan, including more information about timelines, presentations from past events, and additional resources and information about the project.
