Deputy City Manager Alethea Predeoux
Alethea Predeoux is an advocate and public servant who has dedicated her career to constituent and community services. Her professional and social advocacy has centered on improving the health, safety and general well-being of people. In her most recent role as the Chief of Staff for the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the federal agency responsible for establishing workforce policies, programs, and benefits services for government agencies, federal employees and their families, Predeoux was responsible to a team of more than 2500 employees and worked to ensure successful operation of the agency’s daily functions. Prior to becoming the agency’s Chief of Staff, she also served as OPM’s Director of Congressional, Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs.
Predeoux also has a background in health care advocacy and labor. She worked as the Director of Legislation, Political and Grassroots Mobilization for the American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO, the largest federal employee union in the nation. Before joining organized labor, Predeoux was a Senior Legislative Analyst for Paralyzed Veterans of America and advocated to improve veterans’ health services.
Predeoux is a graduate of Spelman College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and she received a Master’s in Public Policy from George Mason University, School of Public Policy. As a long-time resident of Alexandria, and a self-proclaimed “foodie,” Predeoux enjoys exploring the city’s dynamic food and cultural offerings.
