Project Description
The City of Alexandria is performing stream maintenance on Cameron Run between Weir #3 and the I-495 Beltway Bridge. Removing the excess sediment that accumulated in the stream will increase the stream’s capacity during flood events and reducing the likelihood of flooding events within the FEMA AE flood zone. Sediment removal from Cameron Run will require performing a topographic survey, preparing streambed profiles up to which accumulated sediments require removal, performing calculations to determine how much excess sediment has been accumulated, conducting geotechnical tests, and removing vegetation that can trap sediment from the streambanks.
