The Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that 14 local residents have successfully completed the 11th session of the Sheriff’s Community Academy. This intensive four-week program, held on Saturday mornings from March 7 through March 28, provided an up-close look at the agency’s role within the criminal justice system.
Congratulations to the new graduates including Jack Butler, Jasmin Castellon, George Clark, Kamerin Collins, David Cora, Erin Feeley, Gabriel Goestz, Alexandra Johnson, Lynn Jordan, Nicholas Provenzo, Nicole Torrico, Geraldine Wallace, and Susanne Young!
During their time in the Community Academy, they engaged with both sworn and professional staff, exploring topics such as:
- Institutional Operations: Inmate classification, facility support, and jail operations.
- Security & Services: Court security, inmate transportation, and civil process.
- Agency Infrastructure: Hiring, accreditation, and personnel training.
The curriculum emphasized interactive learning, featuring tours of the Alexandria Courthouse and Adult Detention Center, as well as hands-on activities with specialized equipment like the firearms simulator and Project Lifesaver technology.
At the concluding ceremony on March 28, Sheriff Sean Casey presented each graduate with a certificate of achievement and a commemorative challenge coin and thanked them for their civic engagement.
