Parking Standards for New Development Study
Parking standards study has begun
At the direction of City Council, the City of Alexandria has initiated a study on Parking Standards for New Development Projects. The purpose of the study is to review the City’s parking standards for new development projects, which have not had a comprehensive review since 1992. Non-auto travel (including transit use, cycling and walking) has steadily increased since the City’s current standards were set and there are indications that per household car ownership is declining in areas with better access to transit. This project will conduct the analysis to recalibrate parking standards for new development projects in two phases. The first phase is for new residential multi-family developments and the second phase will be for new office and commercial development projects.
