Your Donation Go?
Expenditures for Children & Families in FY 2013
You can be assured that 100 percent of your contribution will go directly to foster and at-risk children. All donations are tax deductible in accordance with Federal law.
Consider an Honorary or Memorial Donation
The Fund would be honored to receive a contribution in honor or in memory of a loved one who cared about the well-being of our most vulnerable children. Your family and friends can donate by eCheck or check. You and the donors will be notified when contributions are received.
Consider a Donation of Stocks
Donors may also choose to contribute Stock in lieu of a cash donation. The benefit to the donor is the savings of capital gains tax and also the receipt of a full charitable deduction for the value of the stock at the time of the gift. Please call 703.746.5663 or email Suzanne Kratzok for further information.

Planning for Holiday Sharing Starts Now
When the first
leaf falls, it is time to think about Holiday Sharing. Please reach out to the
neediest in the community by joining our program to Sponsor a Family, Senior
Citizen or Disabled Individual, Foster Child, or Foster Teen, and to
participate in the Alexandria Community Toy Drive. You can help with your TIME
by volunteering or with your RESOURCES by sponsoring and donating gifts.
you are truly sharing with no expectation of your kindness being returned, it
doesn’t matter whether you get credit.
In fact, it’s better if you don’t.
Your spirit is expanded by anonymous generosity.”
This quotation is inspiring as
we begin the outreach for the annual Holiday Sharing Program.
Because many families will sign up for your help,
we will focus primarily on family requests for necessities for children and
a few toys. This will allow more of donors to contribute desperately
needed grocery store gift cards and clothing. We hope, if
you are able, that you will increase the number of families and seniors that
you sponsor. There may also be one major or family gift requested; if you can
fulfill that wish, that would be a wonderful bonus for the family.
strongly urge you to use our websites to sign up for your desired activities. Click
here to sign up for sponsorships and monetary donations
and click here to sign up to volunteer. (Enter Holiday Sharing in the search box.) And
kindly share the information with others who also want to help.
The value of all your
contributions is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. You will receive
a receipt in January.
Please feel free to call or
email with your questions and concerns. Thanks for supporting our
Alexandria neighbors in the best spirit of the holidays.

Another Successful Event for the Children

These funds will go directly to the children for athletic uniforms, class trips, music lessons, karate classes, graduation photographs and more. The program has no overhead or administrative costs.
Major sponsors were Kids Helping Kids/Lemonaide, the Goodhart Group, R & B Heating and Air Conditioning, Hudson Studio, Morgan Stanley/Catherine Joyce, Landmark Honda, Dominion Dental Services, Ourisman Automotive of VA, Alexandria Roofing, Stone Aesthetic Dentistry, Alexandria Euchre Meet Up Group, Alexandria Hyundai, Burke & Herbert Bank and Trust, Clarke and Sampson Real Estate, Pam Cornelio/McEnearney, McEnearney Associates Old Town, Monument Title, Team Placement Services, Thar and John Heil, Meagan and Dan Keany, Cathy and Jim Kelley, Suzanne Kratzok and Rick Howard, Mary and Neil Newhouse, and Suellen and Joe Savukas.

The Fund for Alexandria's Child works to enhance the quality of life of foster children and children at risk of abuse and neglect by promoting community awareness, involvement and resource development. We achieve our mission through providing to the children such activities as dance, art or karate lessons, summer camping, school field trips, scouting and team sports. Because of the generosity of our Alexandria neighbors, we can proudly say that we are a community "taking care of our own."
Who We Are
The Fund for Alexandria's Child is made up of volunteers, people like you, from all walks of life who want to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable children in our community. Through family service specialists at the Department of Community & Human Services, we are able to identify children in need and enrich the lives of children in our community who are most at risk. We plan fundraising events, help with the collection and distribution of gifts and other items for the children, and offer our expertise to fulfill our charge: helping Alexandria's foster children and those at risk of experiencing abuse and neglect.
