Ride Confidently With WABA Class

In coordination with making the city more bicycle friendly, the City’s Local Motion program is also teaming up with the Washington Area Bicyclists Association (WABA) this spring and summer to offer adult bicycle education classes.  Classes are for a wide range of skill sets, from beginner to advanced.  Beginner classes teach participants how to ride a bicycle, and more advanced 3 hour classes teach bike handling skills, and how to ride safely in traffic, and rules of the road.
Street Smart

Street Smart

Street Smart is an annual public education, awareness and behavior change campaign in Washington, D.C. region. The campaign uses radio, newspaper, transit advertising, public awareness efforts, and added law enforcement to respond to the challenges of pedestrian and bicycle safety. In addition to the region-wide awareness efforts, Alexandria conducts pedestrian and bicycle trainings for all DASH bus drivers, does targeted enforcement events at problem intersections in coordination with the Street Smart campaign, provides safety information at Local Motion events, and posts safety messages in English and Spanish on DASH buses.
