Support Services Division

Captain Dottie PopeThe Support Services Division, commanded by Captain Dottie Pope (right), includes the Inmate Services and Alternative Programs Section and the Detention Center Support Section and also serves as the liaison to the food service contractor.

Inmate Services and Alternative Programs Section includes sworn and civilian personnel who determine which housing assignments, educational and treatment services, and alternative programs would be appropriate for inmates and offenders. They also provide these services or work with other staff and contractors to ensure proper delivery.

The Detention Center Support Section is responsible maintaining inmate records and for facility maintenance, working closely with General Services and contractors.

Records staff maintain files for each inmate with information on their legal status, upcoming release dates, any detainers from other jurisdictions and other critical documentation pertaining to their custody. In addition to ensuring the accuracy of inmates’ release dates and custodial status, Records staff are also responsible for notifying crime victims of the release of local inmates whose cases were adjudicated in Alexandria.

The Inmate Work Detail which performs work for City government agencies and nonprofit organizations is also part of the Detention Support Section.
