All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Wednesday, December 24; Thursday, December 25; and Friday, December 26, in observance of the Christmas holidays. Residential refuse and recycling will be collected on Wednesday, December 24. There is no collection scheduled on Thursday, December 25; and Thursday’s collection will take place on Friday, December 26.

Public Invited to Attend Community Pre-Construction Meeting for Park Improvements at Witter Property Athletic Facilities

The public is invited to attend a Community Pre-Construction Meeting to discuss the upcoming athletic field construction for the Witter Property located at 2600 Witter Drive. The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 10, at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Bishop Ireton, 201 Cambridge Road, Alexandria, VA 22314.

The contractor and City staff will present information and answer questions concerning the upcoming construction of approved athletic improvements to the property, including a new diamond field, two new rectangular fields, restrooms, park pavilions and parking.

Persons who are unable to attend the pre-construction meeting can send written questions to the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, Attention: Beth Carton, 1108 Jefferson St., Alexandria, VA 22314, or e-mail bethany.carton@alexandriava.gov.
