Alexandria Police Seek Help to Identify Suspects in South Royal Street Robbery

The Alexandria Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects wanted in a robbery that occurred in the 200 block of South Royal Street.

On January 11, around 7:30 p.m., a 29-year-old woman was walking home from work, when she was approached by two suspects.  The suspects pushed her up against a wall, knocked her down and took her purse and lunchbox.  The suspects then fled the area.  The victim sustained minor injuries.

The suspects in the robbery are described as black, with a light complexion, and both were wearing dark clothing.

The next day, January 12, the victim’s credit cards were used by a man and a woman in a store in Maryland.  The pictures of the suspects in the store were caught on a video surveillance camera.

Anyone recognizing the people depicted in the pictures or anyone with additional information about this case is asked to call Detective Chris Whelan at 703.838.4726 or the Crime Solvers tip line at 703.838.4858.

Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.
