Celebrate Black History Month with Paul Robeson at the Carlyle ClubFebruary 13 Performance and Dinner Benefit Alexandria Black History Museum
This play, directed by Cody Jones, follows Paul Robseon (1898-1976) from his youth in New Jersey through his adult years as he traveled the world. An All-American athlete and a graduate of Columbia Law School, Robeson negotiated a complicated system of racism as he spoke out against the injustices he witnessed. Fighting for civil rights and labor causes, he triumphed in the midst of adversity that turned him into a modern-day martyr. Following the 90-minute performance, guests will enjoy their choice of a two- or three-course meal. Tickets begin at $40 per person with reduced rates for children or guests who attend the play only. Advance reservations are required and can be made by calling the Alexandria Black History Museum at 703.746.4356. For more information, please visit www.alexblackhistory.org or call 703.746.4356. |
