Alexandria Fire Station 210 & Impound Lot Project

Fire Station 210 photoWhat's New

  • Alexandria Fire Department Postpones Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for New Station #210

The Alexandria Fire Department has postponed the ribbon-cutting ceremony for new Station #210, 5255 Eisenhower Avenue. The event was originally scheduled for April 18, and a new date and time will be announced when the ceremony is rescheduled. The new date will allow time for City Council to reach a conclusion as part of the budget process as to how and when to staff a fire engine at the station.

The new station, a state-of-the-art, 45,000 square foot, three-story facility, entered service on April 1 in the Eisenhower Valley. The station currently houses a medic unit, EMS Supervisor, Field Training Officer, SCBA service center, the Fire Protection Systems Office, and outreach facilities, and will house a fire engine company in the future.

Background

Fire Station 210, located at 5255 Eisenhower Avenue, is part of the City's Capital Improvement Program. The station, which was approved by City Council in 2008, will provide enhanced emergency response time to Alexandria's West End, with close proximity to the Norfolk Southern Ethanol Transloading Facility (an area of much concern to residents in the community). The station will also provide additional Fire Department classroom and training facilities, and community meeting space. Funding for this $16 million project will also support the improvement of the City impound lot located at Eisenhower Avenue and the addition of a new impound lot at 3000 Business Center Drive.

Benefits of an Eisehower Fire Station

  • Enhanced response times to western portion of Eisenhower Avenue
  • Close proximity and speedy response to the Norfolk-Southern Ethanol Transfer Facility
  • Provide Fire Department with desperately needed classrooms and technical training facilities
