General InformationRegistration forms for sports programs and leagues may be obtained through Alexandria Schools, Libraries, Recreation Centers, and the Youth Sports Office at 1108 Jefferson St. Fees and programs are subject to change. Teams are formed through Recreation Center Districts, not school boundaries. After the league registration deadline, players will be assessed a late fee and will be placed on teams based on space availability. Registration for all Youth Sports leagues and activiies must be accompanied by a birth certificate unless one is already on file in the Sports Office. Registration forms can be downloaded from this page, completed and mailed in with required fees and information to the Youth Sports Division at 1108 Jefferson St., Alexandria Virginia 22314-3999. Youth Sports’ Leagues & Programs
Volunteers NeededThe Youth Sports Office is currently seeking volunteers to coach youth baseball, softball, swimming, track and field, tackle football, flag football, field hockey, rugby, basketball, cheerleading and volleyball. Criminal background checks are required by all volunteer coaches. Coaches are provided training opportunities. Volunteer coaches are required to attend the National Youth Sports Coaches Alliance (NYSCA) certification clinic.

The Alexandria Titans are a member of the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL). For additional information about the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL), click here. The FCYFL is a full contact tackle football league. Teams are formed based on ability as well as by and age/weight chart. Teams are formed in the following divisions: Anklebiter (AB), 80, 90, 100, 115, 130 and 150 pounds. At the official weigh in, Anklebiters must weigh at least 40 pounds and those in the 80 LB weight group and above must weigh at least 56 pounds. Players age 7 do not have a maximum weight. Each participant is required to have their own current Department of Motor Vehicle Identification Card in order to play in the league and receive equipment. Preseason camp will be held July 29 - August 1 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at George Washington Middle School. Participants should wear t-shirts, shorts and cleats and bring water. Alexandria Titans coaches will facilitate the camp. Participants will learn the proper techniques of passing, catching, blocking, and other fundamentals of football. Participants must be registered for the 2013 season to attend the camp. Practice will begin Monday, August 5 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Braddock Road Field, located next to George Washington Middle School at 1005 Mt. Vernon Avenue. Practice will be Monday - Friday until Alexandria City Public Schools begin. Practices shall not exceed one 2 hour period per day. Beginning with the first week of school, the number of team practices or team meetings shall not exceed 4 per week including games for all weight groups.
The flag football league is a developmental program that will introduce participants to the sport. The program will begin with a clinic on Tuesday, September 10 at the field behind George Washington Middle School located at 1005 Mt. Vernon Avenue. The clinic will take place from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm on September 10 and September 12. Team practices will begin the week of September 16. Once teams are formed, the head coach of each team will set the specific days and times for practice for their team. Teams will be formed by recreation districts. League games will begin Saturday, September 28. League games will be played at Braddock Road Field or George Washington Middle School. Both fields are located at 1005 Mt. Vernon Avenue. Games will be played on Saturday and each team will play five league games. Participant's age is determined by their age as of October 1, 2013. The Sports Office will provide each player with a team jersey. The coaches will receive footballs, flags, and other coaching material. Each participant is required to wear athletic gear to games and practices. Athletic shoes must be worn.

Participants will need to have their own glove. The Sports Office will provide the volunteer coach with equipment for the team. Each participant will receive a team jersey and hat. The instructional coach pitch league is designed to incorporate basic baseball skills of catching, throwing, hitting, running and learning the rules of the game in a physically safe and non-threatening environment. League games will be played Monday and Wednesday beginning July 8. Each participant will receive a team jersey and hat. City of Alexandria residents only. The Titans Track & Field Club will represent the City of Alexandria and compete in local track meets held around the metropolitan area June - August. Club members will receive the basic skills and techniques of track and field with the emphasis placed on teamwork, sportsmanship, commitment and healthy competition. Limited space is available. The club will practice on Tuesday & Thursday from 6 - 8 pm at T.C. Williams High School and compete in track meets on the weekend at Falls Church High School. Participant's age is determined by their age as of August 30, 2013.
The field hockey program is designed to expose girls to the sport of field hockey. The season will run June 10 - July 26. The league will be divided into two age divisions, ages 9 - 11 and ages 12 - 14. Program age is determined by the age of the participant as of July 31, 2013 for both divisions. Participants must provide their own field hockey sticks, shin guards, goggles and mouthpieces. Participant's age is determined by their age as of July 31, 2013

This program will focus on teaching youth the basic skills used in the game of basketball. Participants will learn through repetition of drills and contest Youth will have fun while they develop and improve their playing ability under the direction of qualified instructors. The program will take place July 6, 13, 20 and 27 at Francis Hammond Middle School. Participant's age is determined by their age as of July 31, 2013.
Boys and girls teams will be formed in two divisions (Ages 12 - 14 & 15 - 17). Boys teams are formed by a player skill assessment and draft. Girls teams are formed by recreation districts. The skills assessment will take place on Tuesday, June 11 at Francis Hammond Middle School. Participants ages 12 - 14 should attend at 6 p.m. Participants ages 15 - 17 should attend at 7 p.m. All team practices and league games will be played during the week. Participant's age is determined by their age as of June 1, 2013.
The non-contact rugby program is designed to incorporate the basic rugby skills of running, passing, team support and decision making in a physically safe and non-threatening environment. Alexandria Rugby offers U11 and U15 tackle in both the spring and summer for boys only. The teams play organize tackle teams in the Rugby Virginia’s youth tackle leagues. Both programs are now run by Alexandria Rugby Club, Inc. a community based non-profit organization. Program age is determined by the age of the participant as of January 1.
