CORRECTION:  City of Alexandria Hosts Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade

The City of Alexandria invites the public to attend the 37th Annual Scottish Christmas Walk Parade on Saturday, December 1, at 11:00 a.m. in historic Old Town. The centerpiece of the Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend, the parade celebrates the City's Scottish heritage, featuring more than 100 Scottish clans, bagpipe and drum bands, living history reenactment groups, dog clubs, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. This year’s Grand Marshals are Senator and Mrs. John Warner.

The parade begins at 11:00 a.m., rain or shine. The parade starts at the intersection of Wilkes and South St. Asaph Streets, and heads north on South St. Asaph Street to Queen Street. The parade then turns right and heads east on Queen Street to North Fairfax Street, where it turns right and heads south on North Fairfax Street. The parade turns right on Duke Street to South Royal Street, then turns right and heads north to its termination point at the intersections of North Royal Street and Cameron Street (Market Square).

The Scottish Christmas Walk Parade and Weekend is sponsored by The Campagna Center, the Saint Andrew’s Society of Washington, and the City of Alexandria. The Campagna Center is now in its 62nd year of providing dedicated community service to Alexandria’s vulnerable children and families. Campagna Center programs, such as Head Start and Campagna Kids, are strengthening lives and bringing hope and opportunity to thousands of children throughout the City. Ninety cents of every dollar raised goes directly to Campagna Center children’s programs. For more information, please call the Campagna Center at 703.549.0111, or visit
