Gasoline Tax

A gasoline tax of 2.1 percent is levied throughout Northern Virginia. The tax is collected by the State and returned to the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission. The tax revenue helps to defray each Northern Virginia jurisdiction's financial obligation for operating Metrobus and Metrorail.
