Alexandria and Arlington Detectives Investigate Bank Robbery Series

Alexandria Detectives, in collaboration with Arlington County Police Detectives, have determined that a suspect in two different bank robberies in Alexandria appears to be the same suspect in a separate bank robbery in Arlington.

The first robbery occurred in Arlington on December 14, 2010.  The suspect entered the BB& T Bank, located at 2947 S. Glebe Road around 2:15 p.m. and demanded money.  The suspect fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The second robbery occurred in Alexandria on December 20, 2010.  Around 2:45 p.m., the suspect entered the Bank of America, located at 600 N. Washington Street and demanded money.  The suspect fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The third robbery occurred in Alexandria on December 27, 2010.  At approximately 2:10 p.m., the suspect entered the PNC Bank located at 1700 Diagonal Road and demanded money.  The suspect fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash.  Nobody was injured in these robberies.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 40-45 years old, six feet tall to six feet four, weighing approximately 200 pounds.   He has worn a royal blue puffy winter coat, a dark colored hoodie, a scarf over his face, knit winter hat and dark pants.  Photos of the suspect were captured on video surveillance cameras during all three robberies.

Anyone recognizing the suspect in the photos or with any additional information about these robberies is asked to call Detective Will Oakley of the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.838.4314 or Detective Rosa Ortiz with the Homicide/Robbery Unit of the Arlington County Police Department at 703-228-7402.

Detectives would like to remind witnesses that they can remain anonymous.
