When the 95 Express Lanes open in December, carpoolers and sluggers can look forward to 24/7 toll-free travel, an all-day HOV-3+ benefit, relief from the Dumfries bottleneck where the HOV lanes currently end and access to new destinations including Stafford County, Tysons Corner and Ft. Belvoir. However there are some things you probably need to know before you start sharing a ride on the Lanes.

Get Money to Start a Van Pool or Save the One You are In

Sponsored by the City of Alexandria, the Van Start and Van Save programs provides temporary funding (up to $2,000) for vanpools having trouble filling all of their seats. The Van Start Program, which funds empty seats during the critical start up phase of new vanpools; and the Van Save Program, which is for existing vanpools that are experiencing problems in their passenger levels due to the loss of riders.
