Commonwealth, Ashby, Glebe Flood Mitigation Public Open House
Commonwealth, Ashby, Glebe Flood Mitigation Public Open House
Please join the City of Alexandria on Thursday, September 28, for an open house about the Commonwealth, Ashby, Glebe Flood Mitigation project.
The event will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the Leonard “Chick” Armstrong Recreation Center (25 W. Reed Ave.). This public meeting will be held in an open house format with display boards illustrating the project lifecycle, proposed improvements and benefits, and anticipated construction impacts. City staff will be on hand to explain the boards and answer questions about the project.
The Commonwealth, Ashby, Glebe Flood Mitigation Project combines two large-capacity projects and will provide flood relief for the area bound by Commonwealth Avenue, East Glebe Road, and Ashby Street.
The proposed design includes new parallel relief sewers, which will increase the capacity of the storm sewer system. Additionally, the project includes the installation of a new outfall to discharge flows to Four Mile Run and green infrastructure practices to provide water quality benefits to the watershed.
