City of Alexandria to Host Public Meeting on Duke Street and West Taylor Run Project
The City will be hosting a hybrid (in-person/virtual) public meeting on Monday, April 17 at Bishop Ireton High School from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
To attend virtually, please register at https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_2Id6imbKS1mhOJRppLpCPg.
Staff will have a presentation that will cover the concepts for both the West Taylor Run intersection and the access point at Telegraph Road. The meeting will cover in more detail specific questions and comments from the November/December 2022 public outreach period about the right-turn lane, bike/pedestrian safety, and general access. Staff will also briefly cover some of the Duke Street In Motion Bus Rapid Transit Improvements for the Duke Street segment between Roth Street and Diagonal Street. The meeting will end with a question-and-answer section.
The Duke Street and West Taylor Run Project is focused on enhancing safety and access for people who walk, drive, bike and take transit at the intersection of West Taylor Run Parkway and Duke Street. It also includes providing new access onto Telegraph Road east of the West Taylor Run intersection. In conjunction with this project, the City has recently completed documenting results of the Duke Street Mitigation Pilot Phase II and recommended extending the pilot permanently.
