Call for Applications: Duke Street In Motion Advisory Group

The City of Alexandria is seeking community members to sit on the newly formed Duke Street In Motion Advisory Group.
The members will serve as community advisors to a team of City staff and consultants working on Duke Street In Motion, a project focused on ensuring transit improvements along the Duke Street corridor, from the Landmark Mall area to the King Street Metro Station, provide efficient transportation options that align with the needs, wants, and expectations of all users. Ultimately, the group will make a recommendation on the preferred design plan for the corridor.
The City is collecting applications from interested parties through an online form. Responses must be received by March 27, 2022, at 9 p.m.
City Council approved the formation of a Duke Street In Motion Advisory Group on March 8, 2022. The group will be comprised of 11 members, including four (4) at-large community representatives, one (1) representative of the development community, and one (1) corridor small-business representative. The at-large membership will consist of at least:
- Two (2) individuals who reside on or near the Duke Street corridor west of Quaker Lane
- One (1) individual who is an apartment renter along or near the corridor, either west or east of Quaker Lane
The remaining positions include:
- One (1) Transportation Commission member
- One (1) Planning Commission member
- One (1) Alexandria Commission on Persons with Disabilities member or designee
- One (1) DASH Bus Riders Group member or designee
- One (1) Federation of Civic Association member or designee
The Advisory Group will meet approximately once each month over 12 months; the City Manager can extend the term by 12 additional months, if necessary.
