City of Alexandria Economic Opportunity Commission Releases Community Needs Assessment
Alexandria, Va. – The Economic Opportunity Commission (EOC) and the Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) have released the Alexandria Community Needs Assessment report.
Completed utilizing data from 2020-2023, the report looks at the scope of the City of Alexandria’s challenges in specified areas, identifies gaps, and proposes potential solutions. These areas include childcare, employment, food security, healthcare and housing.
The City of Alexandria’s strategic plan prioritizes being a caring and equitable city that supports an affordable and livable community for all. Achieving this goal requires ensuring that residents who are living with low incomes can attain a quality of life that allows them to prosper. This needs assessment is intended to be a tool to help identify areas where more work is needed.
The EOC advocates for residents living with low income to ensure equitable economic opportunities to thrive. It serves as an advisory board to DCHS’s, Office of Community
Services, which is Alexandria’s Community Action Agency. Learn more about services and the EOC.
