City of Alexandria Holiday Sharing to Benefit Children, Families and Older Adults in Need
City of Alexandria Holiday Sharing to Benefit Children, Families and Older Adults in Need
For immediate release November 22, 2022
The Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) invites the public to make the 2022 holiday season brighter for the most vulnerable members of our community — low-income families, children in foster care, older adults and residents with disabilities.
Through the annual Holiday Sharing program, coordinated by the Fund for Alexandria’s Child, sponsors purchase gifts and/or gift cards for eligible families and individuals, which are distributed by DCHS staff and volunteers. The generosity of our community helps ensure that no Alexandrians are left without during the holidays.
This year more than 450 families have signed up for assistance; 150 of those families been matched with a sponsor. Community members who wish to help can sign up to sponsor by December 5. Monetary donations can be made via credit card (Amex, VISA, MasterCard, or Discover) online.
For donation checks, please make payable to The Fund for Alexandria's Child, or to the DCHS Senior Fund, and mail to:
