Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule of Services for the City of Alexandria
All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Thursday, November 23, and many will be closed on Friday, November 24, in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. The following list includes schedule information for other City facilities and partner agencies.
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS):
Wednesday-Friday, November 22-24: Closed.
Alexandria Transit Company (DASH):
Thursday, November 23: DASH bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule. The Alexandria Transit Company administrative office will be closed.
Friday, November 24: Normal DASH bus service operation. The Alexandria Transit Company administrative office will be closed.
The free King Street Trolley operates from King Street Metro to City Hall/Market Square with service every 15 minutes, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day.
Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA):
Thursday, November 23: Closed.
Friday, November 24: Normal operations. Adoptions begin at 12 p.m.

Wednesday-Friday, November 22-24: The following Commonwealth of Virginia courts in Alexandria will close at noon: the Circuit Court, Clerk of Circuit Court, General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, and Court Service Unit.
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV):
Thursday-Saturday, November 23-25: Closed.
The Alexandria Health Department (4850 Mark Center Drive), the Flora Krause Casey Pharmacy (1200 N. Howard St.) and the Teen Wellness Center at Alexandria City High School (3330 King St.) will close at noon on Wednesday, November 22, and will remain closed November 23 and 24, reopening November 27.
All emergency hotlines operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the Child Protective Services hotline at 703.746.5800; the Domestic Violence hotline at 703.746.4911; the Emergency Mental Health Services or substance use crisis hotline at 703.746.3401; the Adult Protective Services hotline at 703.746.5778 or 988; and the Sexual Assault Hotline at 703.683.7273.
Thursday, November 23: All City museums will be closed.
Friday, November 24: The Alexandria Black History Museum will be closed. All other museums will operate normally.

Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24: Closed.
The City’s impound lot is closed on all weekends and observed City holidays. Fees will continue to accrue on Saturday and Sunday, but not on holidays.
Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24: Closed.
Thursday, November 23: The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces and residential permit parking districts. This suspension of enforcement applies only to the restrictions at legal parking spaces and does not permit parking in any normally prohibited location. Temporary no-parking signs will be enforced.
Friday, November 24: Normal parking restrictions will be enforced.
Recreation, Nature, and Arts Centers:
Thursday, November 23: All Recreation, Nature, and Art Centers will be closed.
Friday, November 24: Chinquapin Park Recreation Center, and Aquatics Facility, Charles Houston Recreation Center, and Patrick Henry Recreation Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All other facilities will be closed.
Residential refuse, recycling, and yard waste will be collected on the regularly scheduled day during the week of November 20. Trash pickup will begin at 6 a.m. on Thursday, November 23. Curbside food waste will be delayed by one day. The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center will be open on Saturday, November 25.
The Torpedo Factory Art Center:
Thursday, November 23: Closed.
Friday, November 24: Normal operations.
