Tornado Watch in Effect for the City of Alexandria
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the region, including the City of Alexandria, on Monday, August 7 until approximately 6:45 p.m. A tornado watch has also been issued until 9 p.m. Residents may experience damaging wind gusts, large hail, flash flooding, and tornado conditions. The City is monitoring conditions across the area.
Residents, businesses, and visitors should tune in to local media for more information and take appropriate actions to keep their households safe. Recreation facilities that serve as cooling centers will remain open.
The City has deployed public works teams to prepare for downed traffic signals and debris removal. To report debris, down traffic signals, flooding, or other non-emergency items in the City, please utilize Alexandria’s customer service Alex 311 or call 703.746.4311. After 9 p.m. please call 703.746.4444. For power outages, please notify Dominion Energy online or call at 1-866-DOM-HELP (1-866-366-4357)
