On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at approximately 12:46 p.m. the Alexandria Police Department responded to a shooting in the 3600 block of Richmond Highway. Upon arriving, officers learned the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force(CARFTF) located a wanted fugitive in the Potomac Yard shopping center. While the CARFTF attempted to apprehend the suspect, he was shot. The suspect was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
