APD Makes Arrest in Shooting Incident

ALEXANDRIA, VA. – The Alexandria Police Department made an arrest in a shooting incident that sent one woman to the hospital.
On June 20, 2023, the victim, a 30-year-old female, arrived by personal vehicle at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower body. The injuries were non-life threatening. APD began an investigation into the incident after being notified by the hospital and found the incident occurred in the 300 block of East Raymond Avenue.
APD officers arrested the suspect, Jovan Saunders, 45, a City of Alexandria resident, was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
