The Alexandria Police Deparment Investigates Pedestrian Struck Incident

ALEXANDRIA, VA. – The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a serious traffic crash that occurred Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at the intersection of East Monroe Avenue and Mount Vernon Avenue.
At approximately 9:37 AM, police responded to the scene and discovered the motor vehicle crash involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation suggests that the pedestrian was walking southbound in the crosswalk on Mount Vernon Avenue through the intersection when she was struck by the vehicle. The vehicle, driven by a 57-year-old female, was making a left turn onto Monroe Avenue when they struck the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.
The victim, a 58-year-old female, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
APD’s Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.
