APD Announces Temporary Road Closures for the Weekend of October 22
ALEXANDRIA, VA. – There will be temporary road closures in Alexandria for the St. Rita’s Run 5K
The closures are scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 5:00 a.m. with the closing of Mainline Boulevard and Glendale Avenue. The rest of the race route will be closed starting at 7:00 a.m. and the streets are slated to be reopened by 1:00 p.m.
The closures are as follows:
- Mainline Blvd. will be closed from the 1100 block to Potomac Ave.
- Potomac Ave. will be closed from US Route 1 to E. Reed Ave.
- All the cross streets will be closed on Potomac Ave.
- Southbound traffic for Potomac Ave. will be diverted onto E. Reed Ave.
- Northbound traffic for Potomac Ave. will be diverted onto Route 1 northbound.
The public can expect an increased police presence in the area, and drivers are asked to remain alert. Please note there is a possibility of other road closures that are not mentioned which would take place as an increased safety measure.
Vehicles parked on the racecourse may be able to leave, but only when deemed safe to move by APD officers.
Illegally parked vehicles may be ticketed or towed. If you believe your vehicle was towed from a public street, please call our Department of Emergency & Customer Communications at 703.746.4444.
