NGMHAAD is recognized nationally on September 27. It celebrates the progress made in preventing the spread of HIV and AIDS among gay, bisexual, and same-gender-loving men.
During this day, we remember those lost to HIV/AIDS and acknowledge that stigma as well as systemic racism, homophobia, and poverty stand as barriers to HIV prevention and care.
Alexandria Health Department encourages all gay, bisexual, and same-gender-loving men in Alexandria to protect themselves and their partners from HIV/AIDS. Talk to a provider about preventing HIV with medication like PrEP and safe sex practices.
The best way to help prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in our community is to know your status through HIV testing. Call AHD’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Clinic at 703.746.4992 to find testing in Alexandria. Local testing is available for people with and without insurance. Translation services are available. All are welcome.
Men with HIV/AIDS should talk to their doctor about staying healthy through a healthy lifestyle, treatment, and vaccinations to protect from other illnesses like mpox and COVID-19.
