Firefighters and Paramedics gathered at Alexandria Fire Station 206 (Seminary Road) to dedicate a plaque in honor of the 2012 Line of Duty Death of Paramedic Joshua A. Weissman. Weissman died on February 9, 2012 from injuries he sustained when he fell from a highway overpass on Interstate 395 while responding to a vehicle fire with a report of someone trapped on February 8, 2012. The plaque, funded by donations from firefighters and paramedics in the department, is on display in the apparatus bay of the fire station where Weissman last served.
A second plaque was dedicated at the ceremony to retired firefighter Phillip "Shirl" Harrington, a 29 year veteran of the Alexandria Fire Department and friend of Fire Station 206. Mr. Harrington passed away of natural causes on July 15, 2012. His plaque is mounted below a plaque dedicated to his twin brother Melvin Harrington, a retired 29 year veteran and friend of the Alexandria Fire Department and Fire Station 206. Melvin Harrington passed away on September 29, 2005.
