Hooffs Run Culvert Structural Repairs Project
Project Overview
Phase: Construction
Status: Active
Location: Potomac West
Managing Dept: Project Implementation
Sponsor Dept: Transportation & Environmental Services
Project Description
The City of Alexandria is repairing damage to a section of Hooffs Run Culvert located in Hooffs Run Park and Greenway that was sustained during 2019 and 2020 flood events. Subsequent flood events in Hooffs Run Park and Greenway caused holes to form in the top of the culvert structure. The City will be repairing the holes, installing access doors in the top of the structure to facilitate easier maintenance access in the future, and repairing the wood retaining wall along the greenway behind 65 Commonwealth Ave.
Please note, this project is separate from Flood Action Alexandria's Hooffs Run Culvert Bypass Project. If you would like to learn more about the history of Hooffs Run or the City's large-scale effort to address flooding along Hooffs Run, visit Hooffs Run Culvert Bypass Project.
