Alexandria Police Charge Student for Bringing a Toy Weapon to School

Alexandria Police have charged a 10 year-old male City resident with Brandishing a Weapon following an incident that occurred on a bus ride home from Douglas MacArthur Elementary School on Monday, February 4.

The Police Department was notified of the incident this morning by Alexandria City Public School Staff. Officers responded to the school early and met with school administrators before the student’s arrival. Upon his arrival, the student was stopped and found to be in possession of a gun in his backpack. Further investigation revealed the gun to be a toy replica weapon with an orange tip. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to juvenile intake. No one was injured in this incident.
