Fall Tree Sale Scheduled for Saturday, October 4
Great Trees — Great Prices — Great for Alexandria

Alexandria’s Urban Forestry Steering Committee (UFSC), the North Ridge Civic Association and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will host a City tree sale on Saturday, October 4, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 2911 Cameron Mills Rd. The goal of the sale is to promote the preservation of the Alexandria’s tree canopy by encouraging the planting of trees on private property throughout the City. Alexandria Tree Stewards and Master Gardeners will be on site to answer questions about tree selection, planting and care.

Denison Landscaping and Nursery of Fort Washington, Maryland, also a cosponsor of the event, will provide a variety of trees that are suitable for planting in Alexandria. Shade, flowering and evergreen trees selected for the sale include Red Maple, Black Gum, Sweet Gum, River Birch, Locust, Crape Myrtle and Golden Rain Trees in five-gallon containers for $30 each. Red Maple, Amur Maple, Little Leaf Linden, London Plane, Weeping Willow, Redbud, and Hawthorn trees in 10-gallon containers will also be for sale for $45 each. Specialty trees, such as Norway Maple, Zelkova, Weeping Cherry, Crape Myrtle, Sweet Bay Magnolia, and Arborvitae in 15-gallon containers are available by special order only, and prices will vary. Please call 703.838.4999 for additional information.

Residents can reserve trees for purchase in advance through Thursday, September 25. No deposit is necessary. To reserve a tree, call Jerry Dieruf, Arborist, at 703.838.4999, ext. 451, or e-mail jerry.dieruf@alexandriava.gov. When making your tree purchase reservation, please provide a name, telephone number, and the type and quantities of the tree that you plan to purchase. Advance tree orders may be picked up between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on the day of the sale.

The City of Alexandria is committed to compliance with the City’s Human Rights Code and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
