A Message from the Sheriff

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

The men and women of the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office are eager to keep you up to date with our public safety and community outreach efforts.

Our specially trained and certified child safety seat technicians have installed more than 250 seats so far this year. I’m proud to let you know that I regularly receive letters and emails from people using this free service who express their appreciation for the knowledge and professionalism of our technicians. To make this service more convenient, you may now request an appointment online or call 703.746.4114.

We continue to reach out to children and young adults throughout Alexandria. This summer we have welcomed youth groups for visits and tours, mostly recently hosting Kamp Kappa and middle schoolers from ARHA. If you want to arrange a tour for scouts or another youth group, please contact our Community Relations Deputy at 703.746.5017 or We are also excited that one of alumni from the last Senior Experience is doing an internship with us before beginning his studies at college this fall.

The Sheriff’s Office and our community partners recently teamed up for a Drug Take Back event to help prevent the abuse and theft of potentially dangerous medications. The Neighborhood Pharmacy sponsored and hosted the event and the Del Ray Business Association generously funded the expense of drug disposal. In just four hours, deputies collected more than 150 pounds of unwanted medication!  Through effective public-private partnerships like this, we can all work together to make Alexandria a safer community.

We are grateful for your ongoing support! Please do not hesitate to contact me or my staff to let us know how we can better serve you and please stay in touch with us by checking this website and following us on Facebook and Twitter.

Thank you,
