City of Alexandria Office of the Arts Seeks Volunteers for 2011 Alexandria Film Festival

The Office of the Arts and the Alexandria Commission for the Arts are searching for volunteers to help with the 5th annual Alexandria Film Festival on November 3 – 6. Volunteers are needed throughout the Festival at a number venues and a variety of times.  Festival venues include the George Washington Masonic Memorial, Old Town Theater, the Athenaeum, Four Mile Run Community Center, and the Alexandria Black History Museum.

Volunteers will serve as house managers, lead volunteers and ushers. Volunteer duties include ushering, handing out programs, taking tickets, and assisting visitors.  To sign-up to volunteer for the Festival, email the Office of the Arts at aca@alexandriava.gov or call the Office of the Arts at 703.746.5588.

Now in its 5th year, the Film Festival offers feature-length films, documentaries, animations and shorts by emerging and established filmmakers to an engaged audience seeking new or rarely seen films. The Film Festival goes above and beyond simply screening films, by encouraging active audience participation in several filmmaker panels. It also takes full advantage of the unique and historic venues available throughout Alexandria, Virginia, utilizing five public and private landmarks throughout the City. For more information about the Alexandria Film Festival, please visit www.AlexandriaFilm.org.
