Combat Energy Costs by Saving $ on Your Electric Bill
Check out a Kill A Watt™ Meter From Your Local Library Branch!

As part of the Eco-City Alexandria initiative, consistent with the Eco-City Charter Energy Principle and the Eco-City Action Plan Goal to reduce energy consumption through conservation, citizens now have access to Kill A Watt™ meters through a collaborative effort with the Alexandria Library.

Using a Kill A Watt meter and the enclosed worksheet, you can easily find out the cost of energy for electronic devices and appliances around your home – whether turned off or on. So not only will you be able to calculate energy wasted on appliances when not in use and plugged in; you will also be able to know when its time to upgrade an appliance or if your old appliance is actually energy efficient.

The Alexandria Library has a total of 18 Kill A Watt™ meters available for check out, which include a manual and worksheet on how to calculate your potential energy savings. Since Earth Day 2010, residents have checked these meters out over 36 times. Find out more information about checkout at your local branch or reserve yours online.

These meters can be checked out for one week at a time and can be renewed online. Visit one of the above locations or online to reserve your Kill A Watt™ meter today!
