Weather Emergency Updates

This page is dedicated to providing updates on a current weather emergency, such as a winter storm, hurricane, flood, or other weather event. To learn about preparedness for any emergency, visit http://alexandriava.gov/Emergency.

The City of Alexandria is now preparing for the winter weather season. Snow and ice storms produce an average accumulation of 15 inches annually in Alexandria, generally spread over several events in a typical winter. City staff track potential storms 24 hours per day, and on-call City crews and contractors are available to begin working in 12-hour shifts when winter weather is in the forecast, and continue working on snow removal during and after the storm. To learn more about the City's plan for Snow and Ice Control, visit http://alexandriava.gov/Snow.
