Sheriff’s Staff and Association Donate Food and Money to ALIVE
This week, Community Relations Deputy Valarie Wright delivered boxes of nonperishable canned and dry goods to ALIVE!’s food program that were collected during the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office’s annual food drive. Deputy Wright (below) coordinated the drive and employees at the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center and the Alexandria Courthouse donated food and money. In addition, Sergeant Mike Neebe obtained a $100 contribution from Wegmans that he used to purchase cases of canned corn, spaghetti sauces, macaroni and cheese and other food there. On Tuesday, February 25, Deputy Wright delivered the food and a $250 donation from the Alexandria Sheriff’s Association to ALIVE! volunteer Beth Campbell, who coordinates the food program. ALIVE! (ALexandrians InVolved Ecumenically) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization of volunteers from more than 40 religious congregations and the community working together to help those in need in Alexandria. ALIVE!’s food program serves nearly 1,000 families referred by local social service agencies and member congregations.
