A Message from the Mayor

Ring in the New Year at First Night Alexandria, then renew your commitment to being fit in 2015! The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is offering more than 35 new programs with the arrival of the New Year including Project Play and Alexandria’s own Mobile Art Lab.

I am pleased to announce a new service – Parks Viewer, a GIS-based tool that includes a searchable map of all publicly accessible open space in Alexandria. Use it to search for facilities, including playgrounds, athletic fields, recreation centers and parks. Visit alexandriava.gov/ParksViewer to rediscover Alexandria Parks!

Join me Monday, February 16 to honor our Nation’s first President for the Annual George Washington Birthday Parade, and Saturday, March 7 for the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrating our Irish history. I continue to be active in the Department’s programs and encourage you to take advantage of the many available activities and facilities

I encourage all residents to take advantage of the activities and facilities the Department offers. Visit www.alexandriava.gov/Recreation for a complete list of City community events and activities. Save this Program Guide and refer to it often.
