Alexandria Prepares As Flu Spreads
As flu activity continues to increase locally and across the U.S., the Alexandria Health Department is working closely with community healthcare providers to monitor flu cases and ensure they are prepared. It’s important to also follow a few simple steps to protect yourself, your loved ones and your community. 1) Protect yourself and others by getting a flu vaccine every year. Everyone six months of age and older should be vaccinated. 2) Prevent the spread of germs by coughing and sneezing into your sleeve. 3) Stay home when you are sick and wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
