Past Traffic Calming Projects
Pegram and Pickett Streets
Approved concept design to create a more traditional ninety-degree intersection with narrower crossings for pedestrians, a four-way stop, and crosswalks on all legs of the intersection. Bump-outs will be added on all four corners of the intersection and new green space will be created. A sidewalk connection will be added to connect the existing sidewalk on North Pegram to the new crosswalk at the intersection.

East Braddock Road

The new five-foot sidewalk adds 1590 feet (.3 miles) of new sidewalk on East Braddock between Ramsey and Commonwealth. In addition, the new park created at the corner of East Masonic and Little Streets adds 1200 square feet of green space, the equivalent area of an existing home in the neighborhood. This project narrows the street by five feet to accommodate the new sidewalk and includes a mid block crossing on E. Braddock Road near Spring Street as well as shared roadway ‘sharrow’ bicycle markings.
Phase I – From Mt. Vernon to Commonwealth – completed summer 2007
Status: Phase II – from Commonwealth to Newton – major construction completed November 2007. Completed fall 2008.
