Congressional Cemetery Tweetup

Historic Congressional Cemetery, November 10, 2013

What is a tweetup?  Why does the City of Alexandria host tweetups?
For general information, please see Alexandria Tweetups.

What is the goal of this event?
The goal of tweetups at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, owned and operated by the City of Alexandria, is to allow people to interact in person and via Twitter with the Museum and its related history & events. This tweetup will be held in partnership with Historic Congressional Cemetery and will provide an opportunity to learn about John Gadsby and his final resting place at Congressional Cemetery. John Gadsby’s impact on hospitality goes beyond Alexandria, VA and is embodied in his large, stately vault. At Congressional Cemetery, participants will hear about its history, its preservation story, its beauty, and then learn how to safely clean historic headstones. After a short tutorial, participants will be able to try out their newfound skills.  Although held in a cemetery, this event will be sensitive to the nature of its surroundings.

What is included in this tweetup?

This tweetup will be hosted at Historic Congressional Cemetery (1801 E Street, SE, Washington, DC), from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and includes the following program:
