October 26 Community Flu Clinic, Church of Resurrection
On Saturday, October 26, the Alexandria Health Department (AHD) and the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) provided free flu vaccinations as part of the last Saturday ALIVE! food distribution at Church of the Resurrection in Alexandria. The MRC provided 14 volunteers to support this outreach clinic their roles ranged from vaccination, staff coordination, logistics, flow control, medical forms review and language interpretation. This flu immunization outreach clinic connected the AHD with ALIVE! and the population they serve. It also allowed the Public Health Emergency Management team to test and evaluate their vaccination plans, while making a difference for those in need of the influenza vaccinations. A total of 120 doses of flu vaccine were administered, along with community outreach on flu prevention and general preparedness.
September 28 Community Flu Clinic, Cora Kelly Recreation Center
On Saturday, September 28, the Alexandria Health Department provided Free Influenza Immunizations at Cora Kelly Recreation Center in partnership with ALIVE! food distribution and the Multicultural Health Fair. The Alexandria Medical Reserve Corps provided 22 volunteers to support the clinic between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and their roles ranged from vaccination, staff corrdination, logistics, flow control, medical forms review and language interpretation. A total of 260 doses of flu vaccines were administered along with a robust community outreach endeavor on flu prevention and emergency preparedness. Great team, great work! Thanks to all that helped make this event so succesful and ensuring that we continue to protect the health of our neighboors.
