City of Alexandria, VA
Are You Ready?
Emergencies can happen at any time and being prepared will ensure that you and your loved ones stay safe.
Are You Ready At Home?
Do you know what to do if there is a severe weather alert, a fire in your home, or an announcement of a bioterrorist attack?
Information about basic family preparedness can be found here.
A more health-specific site designed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) can be found here.
The Alexandria Health Department will be happy to arrange for one of our staff to meet with your neighborhood, religious, business, or other community group to talk about emergency preparedness. Please contact Cyndi Lake, Public Health Emergency Management Coordinator at 703.746.4977 or email@example.com.
Are You Ready At Work?
Does your workplace have a plan – and do you know what it is – in the event of an emergency? A good plan will tell you exactly what to do if an emergency strikes at work. A comprehensive plan should also help you know how, when, and who to contact if an emergency should arise.
Are You Ready To Help?
The Alexandria Health Department has an active volunteer program called the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) that accepts both medical and non-medical professionals who support the health department and community in responding to health emergencies as well as day-to-day public health activities. For more information, please click here or contact Paula Rosca, MRC Coordinator at 703.746.4978 or Paula.Rosca@vdh.virginia.gov.
