Administration and Logistics Section
The Fire Department Administration and Logistics Section provides administrative, logistical, technical and professional support for the department. The Administration and Logistics Section is comprised of the Administrative Services Division, Community Services Unit, Health and Safety Unit, Logistics Group, and the Professional Development Center. A assistant fire chief commands the section.

The Fire Department Administrative Services Bureau provides technical and professional support for the other branches of the department. This support includes maintenance, fiscal management, human resources, information management, record keeping, reports, capital improvements, and various other staff and administrative functions. Community Services Officer
Community Services provides fire prevention and safety programs and information to the public. Community Services consists of two branches - public education and public information.
Public Education is responsible for developing and delivering fire and life safety prevention outreach programs using innovative educational tools and resources. This branch works with the Fire Emergency Operations Section and community volunteers to provide fire prevention outreach programs to area schools, community groups and senior citizens. The branch also researches, organizes and distributes information concerning the services and activities conducted by the department.
Public Information is responsible for creating and distributing fire & EMS related newsworthy events and information internally and to the public through various media outlets. The Public Information Office responds to community inquiries regarding fire and EMS incidents; partners with various media sources in providing information to the public; responds to community inquiries regarding fire and EMS incidents; provides information to the public regarding departmental changes and events; and provides speakers for fire and injury prevention presentations.
Health and Safety Unit
Battalion Chief / Safety Officer
The Health and Safety Unit (HSU) ensures safe practices at an emergency scene of any related emergency fire, emergency rescue or emergency medical incident. The HSU provides education and awareness of safe practices designed to prevent or reduce job related injuries and fatalities. The HSU also serves as the department's Infectious Disease and Blood Borne Pathogen liaison to the City's Infection Control Officer. The HSU is staffed by one Battalion Chief and three Captains (Shift Safety Officer). Each Shift Safety Officer is assigned to a fire suppression shift to provide 24 hour oversight of the departments health and safety program.

The Alexandria Fire Department's Logistics Group provides leadership and management of the Fire Maintenance Facility, Department facilities (existing and planned) and Supply Programs. The Logistics Battalion Chief also serves as the Department's liaison to the Department of Emergency Communications.

Chief Learning Officer
The Alexandria Fire Department's Professional Development Center (PDC), provides specialized training and education programs to members of the Fire Department. The Center’s programs are conducted in the classroom environment, as well as in the practical setting.
The PDC’s staff consists of the Chief Learning Officer (Battalion Chief), Suppression Training Officer (Fire Captain), Emergency Medical Services Training Officer (EMS Supervisor), and a Training Assistant.
