TeensWork Summer Employment Program
TeensWork! Job Fair scheduled for April 24 from 3:15 to 5 p.m. at T.C. Williams High School. See flyer for details.
Each year, the TeensWork! youth employment program takes applications from teenagers and young adults, ages 14 through 21, for summer employment opportunities in the region. City teens 14 or 15 years old who meet income requirements may be eligible for the subsidized employment program where they can work 20 to 30 hours a week at a public agency, such as a City of Alexandria office or a private non-profit organization. This work experience is also open to older teens who have a school IEP.
Teens age 16 and older can receive job search assistance and placement. The teens work for local businesses in many occupations such as clerical, food service, retail and technology.
Teens who are interested in either program may call 703.746.5880 or call the JobLink One-Stop Career Center, which operates the youth program, at 703.746.5940 and ask to speak with a youth counselor. City youth must complete an application, bring required documents and be interviewed in person at JobLink in order to be considered for the program.
Private sector employers or City agencies interested in partnering with the TeensWork! program to provide work sites are also encouraged to call.
The Public Program (subsidized work experience) is open until filled and the Private Program serving youth 16-21 is a year-round program.
