Support Breast Cancer Memorial Fund on Spring2Action Giving Day

For the last 20 years, The Walk to Fight Breast Cancer has been monumental in providing mammograms and other diagnostic screening for Alexandria women who are uninsured or not adequately insured. To honor the Walk’s founder Vola Lawson, who passed away in December 2013, the Walk will be renamed. A fund has been created in her memory, the Vola Lawson Breast Cancer Memorial Fund.

Since its inception in 1994, the Walk has helped over 8,000 uninsured Alexandria women receive free mammograms and other diagnostic screenings. Over the last several years, Walk Fund usage has increased while donations have seen a decrease, resulting in the Fund’s near depletion. This year, the Vola Lawson Breast Cancer Fund will be participating in ACTS Spring2Action Giving Day, taking place Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Please help to keep the memory of Vola and her vision alive. You may donate here.

For questions concerning the Vola Lawson Breast Cancer Memorial Fund, please contact Arenda Monroe at VolaFund@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.3123.
