City Celebrates Adoptions
Each year Alexandria celebrates the adoption of children from foster care at a special ceremony at the Alexandria Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. To view photos from this year’s event, click the link below. The Alexandria Department of Human Services (DHS) is continually recruiting Virginia residents who are willing to accept infants, toddlers, teens, pregnant teenage girls (or girls with infants) into their homes. Families or single individuals who either rent or own their homes are needed to provide stable, loving and nurturing family support to these children. A monthly stipend helps cover the child’s expenses and medical care and day care are provided. Both English- and Spanish-speaking foster parents are needed. For more information about foster care and adoption or regularly scheduled public information sessions for those who want to become foster/adoptive parents, please contact the City’s Department of Human Services at 703-746-5753.
