Expenditures for Children & Families in FY 2014
You can be assured that 100 percent of your contribution will go directly to foster and at-risk children. All donations are tax deductible in accordance with Federal law.
Consider an Honorary or Memorial Donation
The Fund would be honored to receive a contribution in honor or in memory of a loved one who cared about the well-being of our most vulnerable children. Your family and friends can donate by eCheck or check. You and the donors will be notified when contributions are received.
Consider a Donation of Stocks
Donors may also choose to contribute Stock in lieu of a cash donation. 'Island Affair' Raises $24,000
Guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and drinks at the 'Fostering the Future: Island Affair' in the Courtyard at The Hotel Monaco on June 5. The evening was a phenomenal success, raising more than $24,000! The generosity of our community will enable us to continue to support The Fund for Alexandria’s Child, helping foster children and others at-risk of abuse and neglect to enjoy the experiences most kids take for granted. These funds will go directly to the children for athletic uniforms, class trips, music lessons, karate classes, graduation photographs and more. The program has no administrative costs.
Enjoy the pictures from the evening here.

Holiday Sharing Program Brightens the Season
Dear Holiday Sharing Friends:
The annual Holiday Sharing Program was another tremendous success! We cannot say THANK YOU loud enough - our extremely generous community sponsored 715 low income families, 92 foster children and 187 senior citizens/disabled individuals in the City of Alexandria.
Almost $14,000 worth of gift cards were received for teens in foster care and $11,000 in grocery cards for families and the elderly. The Fund for Alexandria's Child received contributions of $17,368 and the Senior Fund received $6,945. We received approximately 300 winter jackets, gloves and hats. Volunteer hours
numbered close to 1,000! Special thanks to Holiday Sharing Program committee members Barbara Sherlock, Sharon Crampton, our non-profit partner Volunteer Alexandria, and the many individuals and groups who make the amazing Holiday Sharing Program run successfully.
We wish you a very happy 2015 and look forward to seeing you and working with you this year. Should you be interested in helping to pull together Holiday Sharing 2015 (which begins right in earnest after Labor Day!) please let us know at 703.746.5663.

The Fund for Alexandria's Child works to enhance the quality of life of foster children and children at risk of abuse and neglect by promoting community awareness, involvement and resource development. We achieve our mission through providing to the children such activities as dance, art or karate lessons, summer camping, school field trips, scouting and team sports. Because of the generosity of our Alexandria neighbors, we can proudly say that we are a community "taking care of our own."
Who We Are
The Fund for Alexandria's Child is made up of volunteers, people like you, from all walks of life who want to make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable children in our community. Through family service specialists at the Department of Community & Human Services, we are able to identify children in need and enrich the lives of children in our community who are most at risk. We plan fundraising events, help with the collection and distribution of gifts and other items for the children, and offer our expertise to fulfill our charge: helping Alexandria's foster children and those at risk of experiencing abuse and neglect.
